The paper announcing Dolly the sheep, the first mammal cloned from an adult cell. It proved that the nucleus of a fully differentiated cell can be reset to support the development of a whole new animal.

Proved adult cells can be reprogrammed, transforming developmental biology.

Somatic-cell nuclear transfer: nuclei from cultured adult sheep cells, arrested in a quiescent state, were fused into enucleated oocytes, which were then activated, cultured, and implanted into surrogate ewes.
